Armand Lucarelli,
CPA, CTP
Armand is the founder and a Managing Director
of Capital Restoration LLC. Capital Restoration is an award
winning corporate renewal firm which provides crisis
management, corporate restructuring and the forensic
services. The firm has extensive experience in working with
and representing banks, credit committees and companies.
Before founding Capital Restoration, Armand had
a broad ranging career in industry and public accounting.
During his career in industry, he served as the Chief
Operating Officer and/or Chief Financial Officer of several
companies including a $100 million retailer and distributor, a
$40 million financial services firm, and a $50 million
international manufacturing and distribution company.
Armand began his career in public accounting
with Price Waterhouse and eventually became a Senior Partner
at Goldfine, Lucarelli & Meile, Certified Public Accountants.
As a CPA, his clients included companies in the manufacturing,
distribution, retail, computer software, computer hardware,
healthcare, and telecommunications industries. In his roles
as CPA and corporate officer, Armand was the driver or a key
participant in the turnaround of many companies.
In 1999, 2001 and 2003, Capital Restoration was
the recipient of Turnaround of the Year Awards from the
Turnaround Management Association. The 1999 award was for his
forensic and operational work in turning around Lena Park, an
inner city development company. The 2001 award was for his
work with On The Rise, a non-profit. The 2003 award was for
the turnaround of the Gloucester Company a manufacturer and
distributor of sealant compounds to the retail market. In
each case, Armand led the turnaround team.
Armand is the author of "Failure of the CEO to
change from Star to Coach Can Impair Performance,"
Corporate Renewal, January 2000; "Keys to Avoiding a
Killer Storm," American Bankruptcy Institute Journal,
March, 2002; “Using the Z-Score as a Turnaround Tool,”
Journal of Corporate Renewal, March 2003; “The Dreaded
“CEO” Trap,” The ABF Journal, January 2004;
“Gloucester Becomes Unglued – A Case Study of a
Restructuring,” Institutional Investor, Spring 2004;
and “Managed Earnings Attract Increased Scrutiny –
Historically Accepted, But Is It Fraud?,” Journal of
Corporate Renewal, June 2004. He is an expert on fraud
and the perils of managed earnings and speaks frequently on
the topics.
Armand has served as an adjunct professor of
accounting and taxation at Bentley College. He has also
served as a Director of the Leukemia Society, a Trustee of
Boston BDLC, and on the Massachusetts Society of Certified
Public Accountants (MSCPA) taxation committee. Armand is a
Board member of the Turnaround Management Association and
serves as Co-Chair of Pro Bono Committee and Chair of the
Career Services Committee. He is a member of American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the
Association for Corporate Growth.
Armand received an MBA from Suffolk University,
Masters in Taxation from Bentley College, and a Bachelors of
Science in Accounting and Finance from Bentley College.
